Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI, is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to manage day-to-day unit operations, answer phones, organize files, and support patients, families, and staff on East Madison Hospital.

This 0.80 FTE day/evening role features a mix of 4, 8 and 12 hour shifts with every third weekend rotation; UW Health offers tuition benefits, wellbeing resources, and referral bonuses to colleagues.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1 year of experience in a medical or customer service environment.
• 1 year of experience in a medical environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and facilitate the day-to-day operations of a unit.
• Answer phones, organize files, order supplies, handle correspondence, manage databases, and provide general support to patients, family members and staff.
• Coordinate patient admissions, transfers and discharges with the clinical team.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records with careful attention to detail.
