Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management in Ohio seeks an Andrologist/Embryologist to join the laboratory team and support all aspects of embryology andrology procedures. The role emphasizes adherence to quality control policies and supervision by the Lab Director.

You will participate in learning activities, perform oocyte and embryo handling, grading, fertilization checks, transfers and cryopreservation, and collaborate with clinical staff while maintaining PHI safeguards.

Responsibilities

• Follows policy and protocols for quality control in embryology/andrology and assists lab director daily.
• Performs clerical duties with attention to detail.
• Engages in learning, journal club, and ongoing education and research.
• Performs retrievals, conventional inseminations, and case preparation.
• Executes oocyte/embryo grading, fertilization checks, and embryo transfers.
• Proficient in cryopreservation and thawing; familiar with other devices.
• Provides micromanipulation support including ICSI and trophectoderm biopsy.
• Maintains communication with patients, clinical staff and lab personnel.
• Fosters a team-oriented environment.
• Works weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
• Participates in alarm calls.
• Excels in training, leading and motivating staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Lab Director.

A Brief Overview

Serves as Andrologist / Embryologist; and must be willing to learn and perform all aspects of Andrology /Embryology without supervision.

What You Will Do

• Follows established policy and protocols for quality control, embryology/andrology procedures, assists the lab director with the daily duties within lab, and standard set forth by state and federal agency including Ohio department of health, College of American Pathologist (CAP), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
• Performs clerical responsibilities with attention to detail.
• Participates in a learning environment, including journal club, and is engaged on continuing development, education and research activity.
• Performs retrievals, conventional inseminations, and proper preparation for upcoming cases.
• Carry out oocyte and embryo grading, fertilization checks, embryo transfers and assisted hatching.
• Proficient in cryopreservation and thawing procedures currently established, acquainted with other cryopreservation devices and procedures.
• Exhibits a high level of proficiency and acts as a resource for others in micromanipulation of oocyte and/or embryo including Intracytoplasmic sperm injection and trophectoderm biopsy.
• Maintains proper communication and interaction with patients, clinical staff, and laboratory personnel.
• Fosters a team oriented environment.
• Requires to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours per patient’s needs.
• Participates in alarm call.
• Excels in training, leading and motivating other staff.
• Performs assignments as requested by Lab Director.
