Embryologist III - ( 260003FS )

A Brief Overview

Serves as Andrologist / Embryologist; and must be willing to learn and perform all aspects of Andrology /Embryology without supervision.

What You Will Do
  • Follows established policy and protocols for quality control, embryology/andrology procedures, assists the lab director with the daily duties within lab, and standard set forth by state and federal agency including Ohio department of health, College of American Pathologist (CAP), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Performs clerical responsibilities with attention to detail.
  • Participates in a learning environment, including journal club, and is engaged on continuing development, education and research activity.
  • Performs retrievals, conventional inseminations, and proper preparation for upcoming cases.
  • Carry out oocyte and embryo grading, fertilization checks, embryo transfers and assisted hatching.
  • Proficient in cryopreservation and thawing procedures currently established, acquainted with other cryopreservation devices and procedures.
  • Exhibits a high level of proficiency and acts as a resource for others in micromanipulation of oocyte and/or embryo including Intracytoplasmic sperm injection and trophectoderm biopsy.
  • Maintains proper communication and interaction with patients, clinical staff, and laboratory personnel.
  • Fosters a team oriented environment.
  • Requires to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours per patient’s needs.
  • Participates in alarm call.
  • Excels in training, leading and motivating other staff.
  • Performs assignments as requested by Lab Director.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education
  • Master's Degree of Science in Biological Science with 3 years of experience in all aspect of IVF procedure (Required) or
  • Doctorate Degree in Biological Science with 3 years of experience in all aspect of IVF procedure (Required) or
  • Bachelor's Degree of science in a Biological Science and 6 years of experience in all aspect of IVF procedures (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of Assisted Reproductive Technology and micromanipulation. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to properly use all equipment in the IVF laboratory with troubleshooting. (Required proficiency)
  • Proficient in all areas of IVF/ Andrology, including micromanipulation techniques. (Required proficiency)
  • Appropriate knowledge of Microsoft office, excel, PowerPoint and Access. (Required proficiency)
  • Excellent communication skills. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • MT Certificate from American Association of Bioanalysts (Required) and
  • EMT Certificate from American College of Embryology (Preferred)
