Job summary

A PhD and hands-on robotics experience are required. The position is fully onsite at Brookhaven Lab in Upton, NY, with opportunities to publish and participate in proposals and collaborations.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS/CE/EE/ME with hands-on robotics experience
• Publication record in robotics or AI/ML for robotics, or clear robotics project achievements (publications, GitHub, lab website)
• Excellent programming and computer science skills
• Experience with robotic diagnostics, maintenance, and customization (e.g. electronics/mechanical disassembly, soldering, driver troubleshooting)
• Experience with robot simulation environments
• Experience with 3D modeling, 3D printing, and custom hardware integration

Responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental and applied research and development in robotics, including perception, control, manipulation and interaction
• Work with single-arm, bimanual, humanoid, and semi-humanoid robots and various end-effectors, sensors, and interfaces
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across Brookhaven National Laboratory and partners
• Conceive and execute high-quality research ideas with AI Department colleagues
• Publish and communicate research outcomes and participate in proposals and collaborations
