Job summary

Meta is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize firmware for AR/VR and wearable devices. You will work across kernel, drivers, and connectivity stacks (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Android networking) to deliver low-latency, high-bandwidth solutions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle complex problems in AI, computer vision, and graphics, contributing to the future of immersive experiences and social products.

Qualifications

• 7+ years software development experience in industry settings or PhD with 4+ years of experience
• 3+ years embedded software development experience in industry settings
• Experience in large-scale C/C++ code base
• Experience defining and driving technical work streams and providing technical leadership for software engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software components at all layers of the system, including kernel and I/O systems
• Develop drivers and services for constrained environments with high data throughput
• Lead hardware bring up, peripheral drivers, silicon integration, and power/performance management
• Debug complex, multi-component issues spanning kernel to application
• Profile performance and drive optimizations across the stack
• Integrate software components from multiple partner teams into a unified code base
• Analyze, design, develop, and debug firmware for devices including sensing and imaging systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create new features in connectivity (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Cellular)
• Enhance systems with wireless interfaces and support QA/manufacturing/software teams
