Job summary

Meta is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize firmware for AR/VR devices and wearables. You will work on low-level systems, device drivers, and connectivity stacks (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Android networking) while partnering with hardware and software teams to push performance and innovation.

You will lead efforts in kernel and driver development, optimize power and performance, and contribute to AI-enabled features in a fast-paced environment across AR/VR platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience or PhD with 4+ years.
• 3+ years of embedded software development experience in industry settings.
• Experience with large-scale C/C++ code bases.
• Experience leading technical work streams and teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software components across kernel, drivers, memory management, and I/O.
• Develop drivers and services for constrained environments with low latency and high bandwidth.
• Lead hardware bring up, peripheral drivers, silicon integration, and power/performance management.
• Debug complex, multi-component system issues spanning kernel to application.
• Profile and optimize performance across the software stack.
• Integrate components from partner teams into a unified code base.
• Develop firmware for devices with sensing, imaging, and audio prototypes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on connectivity features (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, etc.).
• Support QA, manufacturing, and other software teams.
