Job summary

Zipline is seeking Embedded Systems interns to join our team in South San Francisco. You will help advance autonomous aircraft and ground systems by developing safety-critical firmware, drivers, and real-time software for embedded platforms.

You’ll collaborate with hardware, software, and operations teams to prototype, test, and deploy solutions across global deployments. In-person internship in Summer 2027 with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Must have at least completed the second year of your Undergraduate studies.
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• Experience with electromechanical systems or robotics is a plus.
• Comfortable with C, C++, Python, or Rust in real-time/embedded environments.
• Knowledge of schematics, debugging with scopes, and comms protocols (CAN, SPI, UART).
• Experience writing low-level drivers for sensors/actuators is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for real-time, safety-critical systems.
• Work on firmware for high-frequency signals and camera subsystems.
• Contribute to hardware-in-the-loop testing and validation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship software acrossglobal deployments.
• Assist in building perception and ground-control software for autonomous flight.
