Job summary

Zipline in South San Francisco is seeking an Embedded Firmware Intern to write and test software for Zipline’s vehicles and ground systems. You’ll work hands-on with hardware in the lab, learning sensor interfaces and power electronics while collaborating with engineers across disciplines.

You’ll be mentored by experienced firmware, electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers, tackling real-world challenges, and contributing to safe, reliable autonomous deliveries with measurable impact.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's in CS/CE, ideally junior or senior.
• Solid fundamentals in engineering principles.
• Experience with embedded platforms (ESP32, STM, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• Unix proficiency.
• Willingness to learn and work onsite.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test embedded software for Zipline’s vehicles and ground systems.
• Work hands-on with hardware in the lab to learn sensor and power interfaces.
• Use logs and tests to investigate issues and craft fixes.
• Build automated tests to catch regressions and ensure safety.
• Own a scoped project from requirements to validation with mentor.
