Job summary

Zipline is seeking Embedded Systems interns for its South San Francisco office to advance autonomous aircraft and ground systems. You will tackle real-world challenges, from real-time firmware to perception prototypes, working closely with cross-functional teams.

We expect you to be pursuing an EE/CS/CE degree, have completed at least the second year, and be proficient in C/C++, Python, or Rust. This is an in-person Spring 2027 internship with a $54/hour rate and potential relocation/housing

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering. Must have at least completed the second year of your Undergraduate studies.
• You've designed, built and/or deployed electromechanical systems or robots, inside or outside the classroom.
• You're comfortable working in one of C, C++, Python, or Rust, and have developed software for a real time operating system or embedded Linux.
• You are comfortable receiving feedback to write code that is efficient, well-tested, and has friendly APIs.

Responsibilities

• Work on embedded interns projects that tackle big system problems.
• Develop firmware for real-time subsystems and hardware interfaces.
• Contribute to high data rate telemetry and signal processing tasks.
• Iterate on perception concepts and integration with ground systems.
• Collaborate with operations to improve ground-system behavior for faster aircraft launches.
