Job summary

Draper is a nonprofit R&D organization in Cambridge, MA, seeking a Group Leader for the Embedded Systems Technology Group within the Software Engineering Division. The role centers on mentoring a team of engineers, shaping hardware/software integration, and guiding program strategy for high‑assurance systems used in national security missions.

Responsibilities include staffing, performance reviews, SME leadership, and collaborating with management to advance Draper’s capabilities.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or related discipline.
• 5–7 years of engineering experience in design, development, and management of complex systems.
• Ability to convey information clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Security clearance eligibility (Secret) may be required for program access.

Responsibilities

• Manage administrative details and career development for group members.
• Convey information from management to group members.
• Lead, mentor, build depth in area of expertise and conduct performance evaluations.
• Maintain staffing awareness, write job requisitions, review resumes, and conduct interviews.
• Serve as Lead Subject Matter Expert for area of specialty.
• Shape Draper’s technology offerings and open new business areas based on program and technical experience.
• Analyze Draper strategy and build capability aligned with customer priorities.
