Job summary

Vermeer Corporation is seeking an embedded software engineer to design and implement real‑time control systems for our next‑generation machinery. You will work across teams to translate needs into robust software, focusing on embedded C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and HMI development.

In this hybrid role, you’ll contribute to safety‑critical software while collaborating with hardware and software teams. Knowledge of CAN networks and RTOS is essential, with Agile practices and ISO 26262/IEC 61508

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to embedded systems or equivalent experience.
Experience or coursework in embedded programming using C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.
Interest or experience in robotics, machine automation, or DevOps practices (CI/CD).
Understanding of control system theory and CAN/serial communication.
Experience with HMI/UI design for embedded systems; familiarity with RTOS like FreeRTOS or VxWorks.
Awareness of Agile methodologies and ISO 26262/IEC 61508 safety standards.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and test embedded software using C, C++, and MATLAB/Simulink for real‑time control systems.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements.
Develop and refine HMI and user experiences for embedded control systems.
Integrate and validate control systems using CAN protocols such as SAE J1939.
Support rapid prototyping with CI/CD and Git version control.
Contribute to safety‑critical development considering ISO 26262/ IEC 61508.
