Job summary

American Control Electronics in South Beloit, IL is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer (Hardware and Firmware) to design and develop electronic hardware and embedded firmware for motor controllers and other embedded systems.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering and 3–5 years in hardware and firmware development, with hands‑on knowledge of power electronics, microcontrollers, and communication interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field is required.
• 3–5 years of hardware and firmware development experience is required.
• Strong understanding of power electronics, signal integrity, analog and digital circuits is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop firmware, schematics, and oversee PCBA layout for motor controllers and other embedded systems.
• Select components considering performance, availability, lifecycle, and cost.
• Review PCB layout for signal integrity, power, and thermal performance.
• Collaborate with clients, 3rd‑party engineers, technicians, salespeople, and specialists on custom designs.
• Define and support DFM, DFA, and DFT requirements.
• Support prototype builds, bring‑up, debugging, and validation testing.
• Maintain knowledge via continuous education and training.
• Comply with safety policies and report unsafe activity to supervisor or HR.
• Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
