Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Middleburg Heights, OH for a contract-to-hire role. You will design, develop, and test embedded software in C/C++, interfacing with hardware and sensors, and collaborate with hardware engineers throughout the lifecycle.

The on-site team is small (6–7 engineers). The position offers a strong benefits package and a focus on real-world hardware/software integration, with travel limited and fully covered when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE, CE, or CS.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Experience developing software in C/C++.
• Exposure to embedded systems or low-level software development.
• Experience working with hardware, electronics, or embedded devices.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming concepts.
• Solid troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded software applications in C/C++.
• Develop software that interfaces directly with hardware, sensors, and electronic systems.
• Participate in requirements development, software design, and verification activities.
• Support integration and troubleshooting of software running on embedded Linux and Windows-based systems.
• Develop communication interfaces using TCP/IP, UDP, and socket-level networking.
• Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to validate system performance.
• Contribute to software documentation, test plans, and design specifications.
