Job summary

Actalent is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to join a defense/aerospace team in Greenville, SC. You will work across the full software lifecycle, developing embedded C code, integrating with hardware, and validating complex systems on real-time platforms.

You will collaborate with hardware, FPGA, and systems engineers, contributing to software architecture reviews and automated testing. A security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong C programming experience.
• Working knowledge of Python and embedded Linux/RTOS.
• Experience integrating software with hardware platforms.
• Ability to debug with lab equipment and perform root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and debug embedded software using C and Python.
• Develop software for embedded Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal environments.
• Integrate software with custom hardware and microcontroller-based systems.
• Perform hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Create and execute test plans and validation procedures.
• Develop device drivers and interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet).
• Participate in architecture reviews and code reviews.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineers to deliver robust solutions.
• Assist with customer demos and technical proposals.
