Job summary

Trane Technologies in La Crosse, WI is seeking a Software Product Test Engineer to join our controls software test team. You will prepare, conduct and report on testing of embedded-based software for Trane commercial HVAC products.

The role requires a BS in engineering/CS or commensurate experience, 2–6 years in software or related field, and experience with automated testing, programming, and embedded controllers. Collaboration across teams and a focus on quality are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, electrical or related field, or commensurate experience.
• 2–6 years in software engineering or related discipline; industry experience preferred.
• Experience with AI/ML applications is desirable.
• Experience testing and configuring embedded controllers is desirable.
• Experience with automated testing is desirable.
• Programming experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of industrial/embedded controls and building systems is desirable.
• Familiarity with safety practices when working with electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide estimates for testing schedules, resources and equipment needs.
• Ensure detailed test requirements are included in product requirements.
• Analyze functional requirements to generate test cases.
• Write functional tests and automated scripts for comprehensive testing.
• Execute test procedures and scripts; perform exploratory testing.
• Conduct test reviews and manage defect tracking until fix validation.
• Collaborate to build and enhance automated test tools and frameworks.
• Meet short- and long-term deadlines; serve internal and external customers.
