Job summary

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is looking for an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to support development, testing, and maintenance of software for our connected fitness products. The program emphasizes mentorship, hands-on projects, and cross-functional collaboration in a 12-week format.

Successful interns will work on real engineering tasks, participate in code reviews, and contribute to software builds and release processes.

Qualifications

Must be local to the Chicagoland area and able to participate in the hybrid internship program.
Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree with expected graduation in 2028 or 2029.
GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred.
Interest in embedded software, firmware, testing or related engineering disciplines.
Experience with programming, software development projects or coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

Participate in day-to-day embedded software development activities within the engineering organization.
Contribute to code reviews and software design discussions with the development team.
Implement software enhancements, modifications, and bug fixes based on project requirements and priorities.
Complete development testing to validate software functionality and performance.
Conduct software integration testing and support troubleshooting efforts.
Assist in the software build, deployment, and release management processes.
Support documentation of high-level software architecture and major system functions.
Collaborate with fellow interns on a 12-week cross-functional case study project and present recommendations to senior leaders.
Attend and actively participate in team meetings, project reviews, and technical discussions.
