Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer – Level 3/4 for the Space Systems group in Dulles, VA. The role focuses on developing space flight software platforms, collaborating with diverse engineers, and ensuring secure, mission-critical capabilities. Onsite work with a 9/80 schedule is required.

The position requires strong C/C++, Python skills, Linux, and experience with avionics interfaces. A TS clearance is mandatory, with eligibility for SCI preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM fields with multiple years of professional experience
• Active Top-Secret clearance at time of application
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python; Linux experience
• Experience with embedded systems tools and real-time OSes
• Familiarity with space avionics interfaces like MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software modules and device drivers
• Define flight-software requirements, testing, and verification plans
• Configure BSPs and integrate hardware/software components
• Collaborate across disciplines to ensure system readiness
