Job summary

Viasat in the United States seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to join a fast-paced team building encrypted communications systems. You will design and implement embedded software in C/C++ for Layer 2/3 encryptors and collaborate with system, test and hardware engineers.

This onsite role can be located in Carlsbad, Marlborough, Linthicum Heights, or Tampa. Qualifications include a BS or higher in CS/CE, 5+ years in embedded C/C++, 2+ years Linux in embedded environments, Rust experience, TCP/IP

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field.
• 5+ years embedded software design and implementation in C/C++.
• 2+ years Linux usage in embedded environments.
• Experience using Rust.
• Basic TCP/IP and network configuration knowledge.
• OO software development experience.
• Agile Scrum experience.
• Ability to plan, track and report progress.
• CI/CD software experience.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• US citizenship and an active SECRET (or higher) security clearance is required.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Design and implementation with embedded software in C/C++.
• Linux OS use for an embedded environment.
• TCP/IP and common network configuration.
• Linux kernel driver development/modifications.
• Familiarity with bare metal embedded device drivers.
• Work with microprocessors and embedded processors (NIOS, ARM, RISC-V).
• RESTConf interface design and implementation.
• Emulation environments.
• Networking protocols (IPSec, MACsec, TLS).
• Python development.
• Standalone embedded applications.
• Collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Develop, test, and certify the NGE High-Speed encryptor.
