Job summary

Viasat is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a small, fast-paced team focused on encrypted communications systems. You will design and implement embedded software in C/C++ for Layer 2/3 in-line network encryptors, interfacing with system, test, and hardware engineers as capabilities mature for service.

The role is onsite out of Carlsbad, CA with possible locations in Marlborough, MA; Linthicum Heights, MD; or Tampa, FL, and requires strong Linux experience, TCP/IP knowledge, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years design and implementation experience with embedded software in C/C++.
• 2+ years Linux OS use, ideally for an embedded environment.
• Experience using RUST.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP and common network configuration.
• Object-oriented software development experience.
• Agile Scrum development experience.
• Ability to plan, track, and report on progress.
• CI/CD software experience.
• US citizenship and an active SECRET (or higher) security clearance.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Design and implementation with embedded software in C/C++.

• Familiarity with bare metal embedded device drivers.
• Microprocessors and embedded processors (NIOS, ARM, RISC-V).
