Job summary

Colossus Technologies Group in Melbourne, FL is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support military and commercial avionics programs. You will develop real-time embedded software for flight control systems and contribute to high-reliability platforms.

You will work in RTOS environments, write C/C++ code, implement drivers, and collaborate with hardware teams through bring-up, testing, and DO-178C certification activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS (VxWorks, Integrity, QNX, FreeRTOS, or similar).
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
• Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for avionics and aerospace systems.
• Work in real-time operating systems (RTOS) environments to support deterministic performance.
• Develop low-level drivers, middleware, and application-layer software in C/C++.
• Interface with hardware teams for board bring-up, debugging, and integration.
• Participate in full software lifecycle: requirements, design, coding, testing, and verification.
• Support compliance with aerospace standards such as DO-178C and related certification processes.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and system validation in lab and flight-test environments.
