Job summary

Garmin is seeking a full-time Software Engineer 2 for our Marine Telematics Engineering team in Cary, NC. You will develop on-device software for marine systems using C/C++ on embedded Linux and collaborate across networking technologies to enable data transport over Wi-Fi, LTE, and other protocols.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing small sets of new functionalities, participating in code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 1+ year relevant experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ for moderately complex software.
• Experience with software engineering tools and debugging.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs for small sets of new functionalities in C/C++ on embedded Linux.
• Participates in peer code reviews and provides feedback.
• Performs root cause analysis and implements corrective actions.
• Mentors less experienced engineers (Software Engineer 1).
