Job summary

ASI (Autonomous Solutions Inc) seeks an Embedded Software Engineer I to join our team working on autonomous compactor robots. You will participate in the full software lifecycle for embedded systems, writing clean C/C++ code on an RTOS and collaborating across vehicle control, actuators, and sensors in real‑world field deployments.

This is a defined project period as a W2 contract with benefits, ideal for someone early in their embedded career who learns fast and loves hands‑on robotics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE/CS/CE or related field.
• Experience designing and implementing embedded real‑time software using C/C++.
• Familiarity with large multithreaded embedded applications on an RTOS.
• Exposure to ROS/ROS2 or sensor interfacing (GPS, LiDAR, RADAR, ultrasonic) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve defects across vehicle control, actuators, and sensor systems.
• Participate in systems engineering to support software integration.

As an Embedded Software Engineer I, you will participate in the full software development lifecycle for embedded systems operating on autonomous compactor robots. You will develop features, diagnose defects, and contribute to software integration across vehicle control, actuator, and sensor systems. This is a role for someone early in their embedded career who writes clean code, learns fast, and wants to work on real autonomous machines in the field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain features for embedded applications on autonomous compactor platforms.
• Diagnose and resolve reported defects across vehicle control, actuator, and sensor systems.
• Participate in systems engineering to support smooth software integration.
• Write understandable, reusable C and C++ code following SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Build and maintain unit, integration, and system simulation tests with a test‑first approach.
• Contribute to continuous refactoring and use distributed version control effectively.
• Support fielded systems and collaborate with the team on integration issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience designing and implementing embedded real‑time software systems using C/C++.
• Familiarity with large multithreaded embedded applications running on an RTOS.
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, TCP, UDP, SPI, or RS232 a plus.
• Exposure to ROS/ROS2 or sensor interfacing including GPS, LiDAR, RADAR, or ultrasonics a plus.
• Ability to work in an open, collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation for extended periods.
• Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment continuously.
• Ability to communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
• Ability to traverse office, lab, data center, and field environments as required.
