Job summary

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or BS in Software Engineering (MS preferred)
• 5+ years of embedded software experience
• Experience with C/C++ on MCUs (PIC, STM32, NXP, Renesas, TI)
• Bare-metal firmware for time-critical systems
• State machines, ISR, Microchip Ethernet stack familiarity
• CAN/CAN-FD, Modbus, RS-485, USB, Ethernet, MQTT, BLE, Wi‑Fi familiarity
• SPI, I2C, UART, PWM, timers interfaces
• CI/CD, automated builds, unit testing, release management
• Git and branching strategies familiarity
• LabVIEW/Python or equivalent testing tools
• Matlab/Python/C#/.NET tooling familiarity
• Altium Designer experience desirable
• Ability to communicate complex tech to non-technical audience
• Desktop applications a plus
• Secure bootloaders / OTA firmware update knowledge desirable
• Cybersecurity concepts (secure boot, updates, encryption) desirable
• IEC 62443 / NIST CSF familiarity desirable
• Locomotive electrical systems familiarity
• Strong problem-solving, multi-priority mgmt, organized, independent
• Willingness to travel

Responsibilities

• Optimize firmware performance and memory usage in resource-constrained systems
• Develop code for real-time clocks, Ethernet PHYs, memory, and sensors
• Implement security routines and Ethernet protocols
• Leverage AI-enabled tools to improve design, testing, and data analysis; ensure cybersecurity compliance
• Manage equipment and capital projects within budget and timelines
• Collaborate with teams to resolve issues and improve manufacturing performance
• Apply Lean principles and drive continuous improvement
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance in all processes
