Job summary

ABB E-mobility, a global leader in EV charging technology, is hiring a Software Engineer to enhance embedded software and firmware for ABB’s charging solutions. You will work from requirements to production deployment in a collaborative R&D environment, onsite at our Bloomfield, CT labs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field with 2+ years of software experience, plus strong HTML/JavaScript/jQuery skills and Linux familiarity. English proficiency and analytical mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field is required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in software engineering.
• Master’s degree, and/or direct industry knowledge of electric vehicle charging, a plus.
• Must have programming experience in HTML, JavaScript, and jQuery; Java experience a strong plus.
• Direct experience with Linux highly preferred.
• Should be very comfortable working in a highly collaborative, global team environment, within an R&D Lab facility.
• Strong English language speaking, reading and writing proficiency is required.
• Very strong analytical skills required, with an inquisitive engineering problem solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with business partners and customers to analyze requirements, define system technical specifications, and design, develop & enhance embedded software and firmware to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Plan, perform and document unit tests.
• Analyze test results and present findings at technical design reviews to ensure design robustness, efficiency, future maintainability, and supportability.
• As SME for EV Charging Embedded Software, interact with Technical Project Managers and Product Marketing Managers.
• Proactively evaluate third party and open-source software modules.
• Support software QA, help to resolve site deployment issues.
