Job summary

ABB E-Mobility is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to enhance embedded software/firmware for EV charging systems. You will drive requirements through production deployment in a global R&D setting, contributing to robust, scalable software architectures.

The role is onsite at our R&D Lab Facilities in Bloomfield, CT, collaborating with PMs and marketing to ensure quality and reliability across the product stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field is required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in software engineering
• Master’s degree, and/or direct industry knowledge of electric vehicle charging, a plus
• Direct experience with Linux highly preferred
• Strong English language speaking, reading and writing proficiency is required
• Very strong analytical skills required, with an inquisitive engineering problem solving mindset

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with business partners and customers toanalyze customer requirements, define system technical specifications, and design, develop & enhance embedded software and firmware to optimize system performance and reliability
• Plan, perform and document unit tests
• Analyzetestresults and present findings at technical design reviews to ensure design robustness, efficiency, future maintainability, and supportability
• As SME for EV Charging Embedded Software, you’ll interact and communicate frequently with Technical Project Managers and Product Marketing Managers
• Proactively evaluate third party and open-source software modules
• Support software QA, help to resolve site deployment issues
