Job Summary
Embedded Software Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. The role focuses on developing and integrating embedded software for advanced navigation systems, working within a Model‑Based Engineering framework and Agile DevSecOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and test embedded software for navigation and avionics systems.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to perform software and system integration on state‑of‑the‑art hardware.
- Translate formal software requirements into software designs and code.
- Use Model‑Based Engineering (MBE) techniques, including MATLAB/Simulink or SCADE.
- Apply best engineering practices for real‑time, safety‑critical systems.
- Debug and correct defects in existing software.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and test planning.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2+ years of hands‑on software development experience.
- Experience translating formal requirements into software designs.
- Proficiency in a high‑level language (C, C++, Java) or a scripting language (Python).
- Familiarity with software management tools (ClearCase, Git, ClearQuest, Jira).
- Ability to design, code, and test new features or modify existing software.
- Strong debugging skills and defect resolution experience.
- Experience with open software/system architecture solutions.
- Collaborative work style in an Agile environment.
- US citizenship required.
- Capacity to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
- Willingness to work on‑site at the Woodland Hills, CA facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
- Experience with DOORS for software requirements management.
- MATLAB/Simulink model‑based software development experience.
- Knowledge of INS/GPS system requirements and Kalman filter design.
- Experience developing, verifying, certifying, and releasing mission‑critical software in compliance with RTCA DO‑178B/C or similar guidelines.
- Hands‑on experience with communication protocols (MIL‑STD‑1553, ARINC‑429, RS‑422).
- Real‑time safety‑critical embedded software development, including APIs, interfaces, and device drivers.
- Navigation and/or Integrated Avionics System development experience.
- Ability to produce UML designs or MBE models using Rhapsody, Simulink, or SCADE.
- Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, unit test, integration, and maintenance.
- Proficiency with software test tools (LDRA, Vector Cast) and code analysis tools (Polyspace).
Salary and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 – $137,600.00. Compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and potential long‑term incentives for senior roles.
