Lorien is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Dearborn, MI to design, implement, and validate embedded software running on hardware. You will develop production-quality Embedded C code, create MATLAB/Simulink models, and perform comprehensive unit, integration, and HIL testing to ensure reliable releases.
The role requires strong hands-on experience in embedded systems, CAN/LIN protocols, and proficiency translating system requirements into executable designs.
Salary: USD40 - USD60 per hour
Role Overview
This is a hands‑on embedded engineering role for someone who writes, debugs, and validates low‑level software that runs on real hardware. The engineer will turn system and software requirements into Embedded C code and MATLAB/Simulink models, then prove it works through unit, integration, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing. Day to day, they will work with hardware, controls, systems, and test teams to track down root causes and ship reliable releases. The combination of Embedded C + MATLAB/Simulink + embedded testing is the hard‑to‑find core of this search, and the customer has been explicit that general software, web, or pure QA backgrounds are not a fit.

Ideal Candidate Profile
An embedded software engineer with roughly 6+ years of experience, at least 4 of them writing production Embedded C, who has built Simulink models and validated embedded code through unit, integration, and HIL testing. The strongest backgrounds will come from automotive electronics, controls, or other hardware‑connected product development. Seniority is mid‑to‑senior individual contributor. Work style: hands‑on, curious about root causes, comfortable at the boundary between software and hardware, and collaborative with systems, controls, and test engineers.
