Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a software engineer to join the Software Engineering Directorate’s Effectors Center. You will design, code, integrate and test real-time embedded software and firmware for missiles, launchers, radars, and naval fire control systems.

As part of a fast‑paced, agile team, you will gain hands‑on exposure across the full software lifecycle, including real‑time systems design, DSP, ML and DevOps practices while contributing to national security and defense capability.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or STEM, obtained by start date.
• Experience developing or debugging software in C, C++ or object‑oriented languages.
• Experience with hardware‑software integration, embedded testing or bench‑level debugging.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms and OO principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist derivation of software requirements, architecture, implementation and verification.
• Design, code, test and integrate high‑reliability software for embedded targets.
• Perform hardware‑software integration and bench debugging on target hardware.
• Participate in code reviews and technical trade studies.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and project managers.
