Job summary

RTX is seeking a software engineer to join the Software Engineering Directorate’s Effectors Center in Tucson, AZ. You will design, code, integrate, and test real-time embedded software and firmware for missiles, launchers, radars, and fire control systems in a fast-paced agile environment.

You'll collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and project managers to derive requirements, implement high‑reliability software in C/C++, and participate in code reviews and validation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM major, obtained by start date.
• Experience developing, building, or debugging software applications utilizing C, C++, or another OO language.
• Experience with hardware–software integration, embedded system testing, or bench-level debugging.
• Experience applying OO principles and data structures/algorithms in software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in deriving software requirements, architecture design, implementation, and verification of real-time embedded software and tools.
• Design, code, test, and integrate high-reliability software solutions using C, C++, and OO programming.
• Perform hardware–software integration, bench debugging, and testing on embedded targets and HIL environments.
• Participate in internal peer code reviews and design reviews; support technical trade studies.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and PMs to align requirements and interfaces.
• Follow established software processes and configuration management practices to deliver robust products.
