Job summary

Wabtec in Wisconsin is seeking a Software Test Engineer IV with substantial experience in embedded software validation to contribute to test plans, procedures, and automation across electronic control systems used in rail applications.

The role emphasizes developing and maintaining test solutions, executing tests, and delivering thorough reports in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in software testing, embedded systems, or a related field.
• Experience testing and debugging software, firmware, and hardware-based systems
• Experience developing programmatic test solutions or automation using Python, C, and/or C++
• OS: Windows and Linux
• Experience with ALM tools supporting requirements traceability and test case development (e.g., IBM ELM)
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum in embedded environments

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze system and software requirements for testability
• Develop detailed test plans and test procedures with minimal guidance
• Create, execute, and maintain test cases with 100% requirements traceability
• Perform hardware/software system and integration testing
• Document results and produce clear, comprehensive test reports
• Maintain effective communication with peers, developers, and stakeholders
• Assist with laboratory equipment setup, tracking, organization, and maintenance
• Design, develop and maintain test automation solutions to improve test coverage and efficiency
