Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Germantown, MD is seeking a mid-level Software Test Engineer IV with hands-on experience in embedded systems and software validation to design and execute test plans for electronic control systems used in rail applications.

You will develop test procedures, automate tests, analyze results, and deliver thorough reports while collaborating with project teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field
• 6+ years of software testing/embedded systems experience
• Strong understanding of electronic control systems and hardware/software integration
• Experience testing and debugging software, firmware, and hardware-based systems
• Experience developing programmatic test solutions or automation (Python/C/C++)
• Proficient in Windows and Linux environments
• Familiarity with ALM tools supporting requirements traceability and test case development

Responsibilities

• Review system and software requirements for testability
• Develop detailed test plans and procedures with minimal guidance
• Create, execute, and maintain test cases with full requirements traceability
• Perform hardware/software system and integration testing
• Document results and produce clear test reports
• Maintain communication with peers, developers and stakeholders
• Assist with lab equipment setup, tracking and maintenance
• Design, develop and maintain test automation to improve coverage and efficiency
