Job summary

RTX in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a System Security Engineer to join the Embedded Product Cybersecurity Engineering team, defending mission-critical platforms from cyber threats. You will embed with design teams across products to ensure SSDLC compliance and security excellence.

Required skills include Linux, C/C++, Python or Rust, and networking, with preferred familiarity with aviation cybersecurity standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 2 years of relevant experience OR Advanced degree in Cybersecurity OR 6 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree
• Embedded software development experience in Linux OS environment
• Experience coding in C, C++, Python or Rust
• Networking experience - Layer 2/Layer 3/Layer 4 protocols
• Fluent in software development domain and passion for Product Security, understanding enterprise cybersecurity vs embedded systems with real-world impact

Responsibilities

• Develop threat models / data flow diagrams
• Implement mandatory access controls (MAC) through SELinux policies
• Review code to identify weaknesses in security functions
• Develop and execute fuzzing and penetration tests
• Conduct vulnerability assessments of proposed and in-service systems
• Author and manage cybersecurity certification artifacts
