Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Strata Common Platform team in Seattle, developing embedded platform software powering space vehicles. You’ll work on drivers, middleware, and applications across hardware platforms with a collaborative, innovative culture.

3+ years in embedded software and strong C/C++ skills are required. Relocation assistance is available; opportunity to impact multiple spaceflight programs within a safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Expert proficiency in C/C++ programming.
• Real-time systems, multitasking and synchronization in embedded environments.
• Experience with software loaders, device drivers, middleware, hardware abstraction, and low-level interfaces.
• Knowledge of ARM/x86 and RTOS/QNX/Yocto Linux environments.
• Experience with GitLab, Jira, Confluence.
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative teamwork skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Join an exciting development program covering the full software lifecycle.
• Build platform software for embedded avionics systems (drivers, middleware, apps).
• Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to shape software requirements.
• Contribute to architecture and design discussions for embedded systems.
• Drive performance optimization and portable software implementations.
• Ensure high quality via testing, debugging, and performance analysis across hardware setups.
• Create clear documentation including requirements, design specs and APIs.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews and constructive feedback.
• Integrate avionics platform software across a portfolio of products.
