Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for the OS/Platform (Starlink) program. You will help bring up next-gen space-grade silicon, develop software from boot loaders to business logic, and build tools to accelerate feature development for Starlink spacecraft and ground components.

Responsibilities include maintaining OSS like Linux and Buildroot, ensuring secure boot, and collaborating with silicon and electrical teams to move hardware from prototype to on-orbit operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience acceptable in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update OSS software such as Linux, Buildroot, and U-Boot.
• Support secure boot and runtime security for Linux-based satellites.
• Maintain spacecraft Ethernet network and connectivity.
• Develop, deploy and test spacecraft software update processes.
• Support SoC and peripheral lifecycles from prototype to on-orbit operations.
• Assist OS/Platform test infrastructure and driver development for components.
