Job summary

Glydways is seeking a Software Engineer for the Onboard Integration team to build and test mission‑critical software that runs on every Glydways vehicle, from prototype to track deployment. You’ll work across hardware, autonomy, safety, and operations to turn components into a cohesive system on the road.

This role emphasizes end‑to‑end ownership, hands‑on debugging across software, firmware, and electrical boundaries, and close collaboration with Autonomy and Hardware teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production systems.
• Experience with C++ or C for production systems.
• Experience developing device drivers or low-level interfaces for sensors/actuators, including HIL testing.
• Experience developing on resource-constrained embedded hardware (CPU, memory, storage, bandwidth).
• Solid understanding of low-level to high-level communication protocols (SPI/UART/CAN to TCP/UDP).
• Experience with Linux, especially embedded environments (Yocto/Buildroot).
• Experience with robotics middleware such as ROS or ROS 2.
• Ability to own features end-to-end: clarify requirements, design, implement, test, and support in the field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test mission‑critical onboard software for Glydways vehicles, from prototype to deployment on track.
• Own high‑performance interfaces to onboard devices (cameras, radar, LiDAR, IMUs, drive-by-wire).
• Develop and integrate runtimes and middleware so autonomy and ML workloads run reliably onboard.
• Design and improve systems for live track operations: deployment, provisioning, logging, observability.
• Collaborate with Autonomy, Hardware, and Operations to define interfaces and ship features to the fleet.
• Investigate and debug issues on bench and on-vehicle, driving root cause and fixes.
• Shape technical direction for owned areas and raise the bar via code reviews.
