Job summary

Actalent in Eden Prairie, MN is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and develop motor control electronics across product lifecycles. The role covers firmware in Embedded C, RTOS, and collaboration with software, mechanical, and motor design teams to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient solutions.

This contract-to-hire onsite position offers pay between $45 and $55 per hour, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life and disability coverage, and more.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Master of Science in Electronic Engineering is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of motor control electronics through all lifecycle stages.
• Design motor control electronics for low voltage DC to 120/240Vac and 480Vac industrial products.
• Write design specifications, perform analyses, capture schematics, and participate in reviews.
• Guide PCB layout and create BOMs and assembly drawings.
• Oversee prototype, validation, verification, and certification phases.
• Participate in testing, test reviews, and software certification.
• Implement OEM-specific hardware or software features in existing and new products.
• Create and maintain project documentation including requirements, BOMs, test procedures, and manuals.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to move designs into production on schedule, including test specs.
• Work with PCB designers to ensure correct schematics, libraries, placement, and routing.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, motor design, and application groups to optimize cost and quality.
• Support quality in failure analysis and recommend design/process improvements.
