Job summary

Vannevar is seeking a forward-deployed Mission Strategist to embed with Navy users in San Diego. You’ll find mission problems, break them into hypotheses, and prove those hypotheses in our classified platform, often building agent workflows, prompts, databases, reports, and alerts on the high side.

This is a hands-on, on-site role that partners with engineers and operators. You’ll own funded prototypes end to end and influence program leadership with clear, actionable updates.

Qualifications

• An active Secret clearance at minimum. TS/SCI preferred.
• Based in San Diego or willing to relocate. This role is in person.
• Experience using technology to solve hard operational problems in military or defense contexts.
• Track record of creatively scoping ambiguous problems and generating strong hypotheses.
• Comfort with hands-on technical work, including rewriting prompts and debugging configurations.
• Curiosity about agentic AI and applying it to real workflows.
• High ownership and independent work style.
• Clear writing for updates to engineers and leadership.
• Professional presence with operators and senior leaders alike

Responsibilities

• Embed with Navy users on watch floors and fleet exercises.
• Turn ambiguous problems into testable hypotheses and iterate.
• Configure and prove workflows; write prompts, agent workflows, databases, reports, and dashboards.
• Test and troubleshoot releases on classified networks; provide reproducible feedback.
• Run funded prototypes from discovery through final demo; manage sprint planning and dependencies.
• Build demos quickly to show new user groups what's possible.
• Collaborate with Mission Leads and business development on scoping and follow-up work
