Job summary

Vannevar is hiring a forward-deployed Mission Strategist to embed with the Navy's unmanned surface vessel community in Norfolk. This on-site role requires you to work with USV operators and mission planners, often on week-by-week travel, to translate field observations into software capabilities.

You will decompose operational problems, drive capability development, and implement solutions with our mission and engineering teams, including periods of testing and iteration on government systems.

Qualifications

• This role requires in-person presence in Norfolk weekly.
• Experience with unmanned systems or software for planning/monitoring hardware operations.
• Ability to decompose problems and drive capability development with Navy partners.

Responsibilities

• Embed with USV operators on-site in Norfolk and build deep operational intuition.
• Decompose mission problems and prioritize software solutions.
• Configure high-value workflows and validate them against real missions.
• Test, debug, and troubleshoot releases on deployed government systems.
• Generate mission wins through deployed capabilities with Navy partners.
• Operate independently on site with cross-functional support.
