Job summary

Base Power in Austin, TX is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to own firmware for batteries, inverters, and disconnect systems. You’ll write bare-metal and RTOS code, ensuring safe, reliable operation in the field.

You’ll bring up new boards, build reusable firmware libraries, and partner with hardware engineers on HW/SW interfaces, CAN communications, and real-time control across a growing fleet.

Qualifications

• Shipping bare-metal or RTOS firmware on modern MCUs.
• Expertise in C/C++ with memory management and ISR safety.
• Experience with CAN/CAN-FD and related protocols.
• Ability to read schematics and collaborate with HW engineers.
• Forthright debug skills from firmware to hardware.
• Comfort in a startup, fast-changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own business logic on MCUs: state machines, control, fault handling.
• Lead hardware bring-up end to end, including peripheral drivers.
• Develop deterministic real-time control within tight timing budgets.
• Build and maintain the CAN/CAN-FD stack and transport flows.
• Interface with Hardware Engineering on processor and peripheral choices.
• Create reusable firmware libraries and coding standards.
• Take products from prototype to production and field.
