Garmin seeks a Technical Lead Software Engineer to shape embedded platforms powering Marine products. The role combines deep embedded Linux expertise, system architecture, and leadership to deliver high-performance, reliable software.

In Cary, NC or the Kansas City area, you will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with vendors to integrate new technologies while ensuring security and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/EE/related field and 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience as lead software engineer on projects introducing new technologies.
• Experience architecting solutions across multiple groups or disciplines.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented and self-starter capable of leading in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across marine product platforms and embedded systems.
• Serve as Lead Software Engineer on major initiatives involving new technologies or expanding marine capabilities.
• Drive designs balancing performance, reliability and security in embedded environments.
• Commonize software technologies across a wide range of embedded products.
• Contribute technically to major products, including C/C++ development.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers (E1/E2/Senior).
• Collaborate with software vendors to integrate external deliverables.
• Evaluate new technologies and features and propose improvements.
• Author new procedures and drive process improvements.
• Apply deep technical analysis to resolve complex problems.
• Contribute to software reviews across multiple products.
