Teams meet 2-4 times per year in interesting locations worldwide to align on strategy and execution.

We are hiring an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT to expand into industries like Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, Telco, and Consumer Electronics. Candidates should be Linux experts, proficient in OS internals, containerization, and system debugging, with experience in low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, and embedded software development. This role offers an exciting opportunity for passionate technologists who thrive in diverse client engagements.

The server edition of Ubuntu is widely used in connected devices and industrial PCs. Our Ubuntu Core edition offers advanced security and resilience for high-end appliances and equipment, with customers in consumer and industrial electronics, automotive, and robotics. We are expanding our offerings with real-time Linux capabilities and certifications, aiming for Linux solutions optimized for reliability, security, developer productivity, and footprint.

This role requires a blend of skills: strong Linux knowledge, coding and scripting proficiency, and embedded development experience. Candidates should enjoy fast-paced environments and diverse projects, taking pride in team and company successes. Customer interaction is a key aspect, with engineers expected to provide thoughtful, well-informed support.

Daily Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology
  • Designing solutions for prospective clients
  • Participating in the delivery of Embedded Linux projects
  • Communicating market needs to internal stakeholders and contributing to solution development
  • Acting as a customer advocate and trusted advisor

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Extensive Linux experience (Debian/Ubuntu preferred)
  • Experience with distribution/packaging (deb, rpm)
  • Embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot)
  • Proficiency in Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
  • Professional fluency in English and local language (if applicable)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Result-oriented with multitasking ability
  • Self-motivated with a drive to meet commitments
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
  • For Japan/Korea, professional proficiency in local language

Additional Skills (a plus):

  • Experience with customer engagements
