Job Description

Teams meet a few times annually in interesting global locations to align on strategy and execution.

We are hiring Embedded Linux Field Engineers for Devices/IoT to expand our reach in industries like Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, and Telco, as well as Consumer Electronics. We seek candidates who are Linux experts, proficient in OS internals, containerization, and debugging, with experience in embedded Linux development and low-level system internals.

Our Ubuntu Server edition is popular in connected devices and industrial PCs. Ubuntu Core, our IoT edition, emphasizes security and resilience for high-end appliances. We are expanding our offerings with real-time Linux capabilities and certifications, aiming for reliability, security, and developer productivity.

This role requires a blend of skills: deep Linux knowledge, coding and scripting proficiency, experience with embedded Linux boot processes, BIOS, firmware, and embedded software methodologies. Candidates should thrive in dynamic environments, be results-oriented, and be team players committed to excellence.

As a field engineer, you will:

• Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain solutions
• Design and propose solutions to prospective clients
• Participate in the delivery of Embedded Linux projects
• Communicate market needs internally and contribute to solution development
• Act as a customer advocate and trusted advisor

Requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Extensive Linux experience (Debian/Ubuntu preferred)
• Experience with distribution and packaging (deb, rpm)
• Embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot)
• Proficiency in at least one: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
• Professional-level English and local language skills (if applicable)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Result-oriented, multi-tasking ability, and a drive to meet commitments
• Willingness to travel up to 30% for customer meetings and events

Preferred additional skills:

• Experience with customer engagements is a plus
