Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a division of RTX, seeks an Embedded Linux Software Engineer II to advance Mission Systems hardware and software solutions. You will build and optimize BSPs, customize the Linux kernel, and implement device drivers for diverse boards, collaborating with cross‑functional teams of hardware, software and FPGA experts.

You’ll work on bootload, root filesystem, and toolchain integration while contributing to product quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Typically requires STEM degree and minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
• Experience as a command line user of Linux.
• Mid-level skills in embedded C/C++ and scripting (Bash, Python).
• Experience with board bring-up and hardware integration.
• Experience debugging with logic analyzers and network tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded Linux BSP and OS components.
• Build, tailor and maintain kernel, root filesystem and bootloader.
• Develop device drivers and manage build toolchains for various boards.
• Collaborate across hardware, software and FPGA teams to deliver solutions.
• Contribute to engineering estimates and resolve complex issues.
