Job summary

RTX/Collins Aerospace seeks an Embedded Linux Software Engineer II to advance Mission Systems software by developing and optimizing BSPs for custom hardware. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams across software, systems, hardware and FPGA design to deliver innovative aerospace solutions.

The role emphasizes bootloader development, Linux kernel tailoring, device drivers, and maintaining an evolving Linux OS ecosystem across diverse hardware platforms.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship required for eligibility for clearance.
• Experience as a command line user of Linux.
• Mid-level skills in embedded C/C++.
• Experience with scripting languages (Bash and Python).
• Experience with board bring-up and target hardware integration.
• Experience with debugging and root cause investigations using hardware schematics and tools such as logic analyzer and Wireshark.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance our customized Linux OS ecosystem and BSP for various hardware boards.
• Contribute to software design, coding, testing, delivery and support for embedded Linux systems.
• Participate in root cause analysis and resolution of complex hardware-software issues.
• Prepare software builds for simulation, reference platforms, and target hardware.
• Adhere to Collins Aerospace processes to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to engineering estimates for tasks such as change requests or problem reports.
