Job summary

UST is seeking a Firmware Validation & Automation Engineer to join the hardware and system validation team in Mountain View, CA. You will validate embedded firmware across platforms, develop test plans, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability and performance.

You will implement automated validation with Python/C++ on Linux, work with debugging tools, and contribute to process improvements while staying current with industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in firmware validation, embedded systems, or hardware validation environments.
• Strong knowledge of firmware development processes, bootloaders, device drivers, and hardware abstraction layers.
• Hands-on experience with Python, C, or C++ for test automation and validation scripting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test strategies for firmware validation.
• Conduct functional testing, regression testing, and performance testing to validate firmware functionality and stability.
• Collaborate with firmware developers, hardware engineers, and QA teams to identify and resolve issues.
• Utilize industry-standard tools and methodologies for firmware validation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Analyze test results and provide reports on firmware quality and performance metrics.
• Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices related to firmware validation.
• Participate in design and code reviews to provide feedback for firmware improvements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of validation processes, tools, and methodologies.
