Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Firmware Systems Manager to lead a team of engineers creating low-level embedded software for autonomous maritime systems. This hands-on leadership role combines technical depth with people leadership, process discipline, and delivery accountability.

You will guide firmware architectures, interfaces, drivers, and hardware/software integration while promoting maintainable, testable designs and robust CI/CD practices across bare-metal and RTOS environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in embedded software, firmware, or related systems.
• Experience leading small teams or mentoring engineers.
• Proficiency with C/C++ and microcontrollers.
• Knowledge of hardware interfaces, drivers, and HW/SW integration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day engineering activities for firmware and embedded software teams.
• Guide firmware architectures, interfaces, drivers, and integration approaches.
• Conduct design reviews and resolve hardware/software integration issues.
• Promote maintainable, testable firmware designs and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and program teams to meet goals.
