Job summary

Advanced Energy is seeking Firmware Engineering Interns/Co-op students to support development across North American design sites. You will work with experienced engineers on firmware for power conversion, controls, and measurement solutions, gaining hands-on experience in product development, testing, troubleshooting, and engineering analysis.

This position is located in Eden Prairie, MN, offering hands-on work with embedded systems in an office and lab environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in one of the listed engineering or software fields.
• Coursework in embedded systems, microcontrollers, computer architecture, digital design, real-time systems, or related subjects.
• Experience programming in C or C++.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Support firmware development projects as part of a cross-functional engineering team.
• Develop, test, and debug embedded software for power conversion and control products.
• Assist with implementation of new firmware features and enhancements.
• Perform firmware validation and verification testing in laboratory and production environments.
• Troubleshoot embedded systems using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
• Collect, analyze, and document test results.
• Support integration of firmware with hardware components and system-level applications.
• Assist with implementation and debugging of communication interfaces and protocols.
• Participate in software code reviews and design discussions.
• Develop technical documentation, test procedures, and engineering reports.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams.
