Job summary

Advanced Energy in Eden Prairie, MN is seeking an Engineer II, Firmware to design, modify, and evaluate embedded software, and to work with hardware and firmware teams on power supply-related products. You will contribute to both development and sustaining engineering in a fast-paced lab environment.

The role requires proficiency in C and assembly for bare-metal microcontrollers, debugging hardware and software issues, and documenting requirements and test plans.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in engineering analysis.
• Ability to learn professional concepts and use analysis tools and diagnostics.
• Broad technical knowledge of electronic apparatus and circuitry for power devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify and evaluate embedded software for power systems.
• Apply knowledge of microcontrollers, hardware theory and tools.
• Troubleshoot and debug hardware and software issues.
• Exercise engineering judgment to ensure project success.
• Collaborate with hardware, electrical, mechanical teams and PMs.
• Communicate effectively across levels of the organization.
• Prepare internal/external software documentation including requirements and designs.
• Maintain broad technical knowledge of related electronic systems and components.
• Diagnose design or field performance issues and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to code reviews to improve stability of aging codebase.
