Job summary

Vitesse Systems, LLC is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer II in Webster, TX to design and troubleshoot firmware for robotic systems and electromechanical hardware. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver production-grade firmware and integrate with complex hardware in a spaceflight-oriented environment.

The role requires 5+ years in firmware development, strong C++/Python skills, knowledge of ROS, and experience with multiple communication protocols. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, CS, CE or related robotics discipline.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience developing firmware and embedded software.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python with good documentation.
• Experience with C/C++, VHDL or Verilog in a Linux environment.
• ROS and ROS hardware integration experience.
• Experience with SPI, EtherCAT, Ethernet, UART, CAN, I2C, RS-232 etc.
• Ability to read circuit diagrams and basic debugging.
• Spaceflight hardware and avionics knowledge.
• Familiarity with electronics tools (soldering, oscilloscope).

Responsibilities

• Write code for firmware, drivers, and embedded devices.
• Bring-up and integration of electromechanical systems and devices.
• Support board bring-up, integration, and testing with electrical engineers.
• Translate hardware requirements into firmware/software requirements.
• Travel to support hardware assembly, testing, and integration.
• Other duties as assigned.
