Job summary

Vitesse Systems seeks an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer III in Webster, TX to design and troubleshoot firmware for advanced robotic systems. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop software for electromechanical hardware used across earth and space applications.

The role requires 8+ years of firmware experience, strong C++/Python skills, and expertise in embedded systems, ROS, and hardware debugging. Occasional travel to support hardware assembly and testing is expected.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related robotics field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience in production firmware and embedded software.
• Experience deploying firmware for field products.
• Strong C++ and Python skills with good coding practices.
• Proficiency with C/C++, VHDL or Verilog in Linux.
• Able to read circuit diagrams and debug hardware issues.
• Experience with robotic systems and mechatronics concepts.
• Knowledge of various I/O protocols (SPI, EtherCAT, Ethernet, UART, CAN, I2C, RS-232).
• US Citizenship or permanent residency required per ITAR.

Responsibilities

• Write firmware, drivers, and embedded device code.
• Bring-up and integrate electromechanical systems.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers for board bring-up and testing.
• Translate hardware requirements into firmware specs.
• Maintain high quality and meet deadlines.
• Travel to support hardware assembly and testing as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
